Along with owning Botanical Atelier, Maya Brown is first and foremost a practicing Herbalist in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is educated in both the apprenticeship model of Herbalism and Higher Education, working with Joe R. Brown, Herbalist and MD of the Mayo Clinic and UC San Diego School of Medicine. She matriculated at Portland Community College, Saint Catherine's University, Minneapolis Community and Technical College, Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine, Minneapolis School of Massage and Bodywork, Eclectic School of Herbal Medicine, Indigenous Remedies, School of Evolutionary Herbalism, Maya also received her Doula/Child Birth/Post Partum/First Year Parenting Support training from Certified Professional Midwife Gail Tully, BS. CPM, CD (DONA), choosing not to certify with DONA, and has taken classes with David Crow, Catherine Lane, Alexis Cunningfolk (The Lunar Apothecary and The Tarot Apothecary), The Aromatic Medicine School, and several other well known and highly respected Herbalists and Healers. Maya taught Herbalism in private and private schools, community education, free schools, private classes, online teaching and more. Maya would like you to know she is not a Physician or a Doctor and cannot diagnose any illness, uses she/her pronouns and is inclusive in her work. Maya is honored to work with several newer Herbalists as their teacher and mentor, and to receive mentorship from them, she instructs in the Traditional Celtic (Scottish) and Traveller Herbalism teachings that she apprenticed in.
